Boulders are community-reported deep-mountain targets added with the Boulders Update. A current guide says they require particular Pickaxes, drop rare crystals, and may drop Runes. The five names and relationships below come from that one source and remain Community reported until the current game confirms them.

The source says higher-rarity Boulders may drop Runes associated with lower tiers. It does not provide reliable current probabilities, so the index lists possibilities rather than guarantees.
Find a Boulder without a fixed coordinate
Community guidance says to mine deep inside the current mountain. Because the official experience promises a new mountain every hour, do not expect one permanent coordinate. Search where the current Pickaxe can clear material efficiently, keep a return landmark, and leave enough Warmth and Backpack margin for extraction.
When a large named target appears, read its label and tool message. Do not spend the whole cold window swinging at a Boulder that rejects the current Pickaxe. Record altitude or nearby landmarks for that hourly layout rather than inventing a permanent zone name.
Break and collect safely
Clear enough surrounding terrain to stand safely and see the return route. Confirm the required Pickaxe from the live message. Keep Backpack space for rare crystals or a Rune before finishing the Boulder. If capacity is low, sell first instead of letting ordinary inventory block the result.
After breaking it, record every visible drop separately. A Rune should have a readable name before it enters the Runes Index. One drop proves possibility, not odds or guaranteed tier behavior.
Decide whether the attempt is efficient
A Boulder route is worth repeating when the account can reach it, break it, collect the result, and return before cold or reset pressure becomes unsafe. If the Pickaxe requirement is far above the current account, ordinary crystal sales and upgrades are the better progression route.
Do not buy a Pickaxe solely for a community Boulder claim without checking the live shop and requirement. The Pickaxes Index shows why the July lineup is incomplete after the update.
Protect the run near an hourly change
Bank valuable inventory before searching late in the hour. Exact Boulder persistence and unfinished mining behavior during the mountain change need in-game testing. After a reset, expect to scout again. Do not promise that a previously found Boulder, tunnel, or drop remains.
If a Boulder disappears during a change, record the server time and state rather than declaring a universal despawn rule from one occurrence.
Common Boulder mistakes
- Calling all five types complete from one community guide.
- Treating the reported Pickaxe pairing as current without reading the live requirement.
- Filling the Backpack before the final break.
- Publishing one Rune drop as a guaranteed table or percentage.
- Forgetting that higher-tier Boulders may reportedly overlap lower-tier Rune pools.
- Starting a deep search with insufficient Warmth or reset margin.
What still needs in-game testing
Exact spawn depth, rarity, frequency, required Pickaxes, mining health, crystal drops, Rune odds, lower-tier overlap, private-server behavior, and hourly reset behavior remain unverified. The names and reported relationships were checked against a detailed guide updated July 24, 2026, not a first-party system document.
Compare Boulder searches fairly
Measure a search by time and returned value, not only by whether a Boulder appeared. Before leaving the base, note the Pickaxe, Backpack space, Warmth level, server age, and minutes remaining before the expected mountain change. When the search ends, record the deepest landmark reached, Boulder name if one appeared, time spent breaking it, every visible drop, and whether the load made it back to sale or Plot storage.
Compare two routes only when their equipment and time window are similar. A failed search with a faster safe return may still be better for progression than a successful find that freezes the player or loses the drop. Keep unknown requirements blank when the live object does not display them. After a game update, repeat one low-risk route before committing valuable Bombs, temporary Runes, or a full inventory to an old search pattern. The goal is a repeatable route decision, not an invented spawn percentage.
