Progression in Mine a Mountain is the process of removing the bottleneck that ends the current run. Warmth protects the high climb, Backpack capacity lets you carry more, Pickaxe upgrades reduce mining limits, and Digging Luck supports the search for better crystals. There is no trustworthy universal order without the current account, route, and live prices.

Identify the first blocker, not every weakness

On one ordinary run, note what happens first. Cold can force a retreat with room in the Backpack. Capacity can fill while Warmth remains comfortable. Mining can consume the route before either limit is reached. Luck can be a long-term concern even while a basic blocker still wastes every trip.

The first blocker deserves attention because removing a later one may change nothing. A larger Backpack does not help when cold sends it home half empty. More Warmth does not help when the Pickaxe cannot clear the next material. More luck does not help when the account cannot mine or carry the resulting crystal.

Progress through repeated comparable runs

Choose one route and complete a sale. Buy one upgrade. Repeat a similar route after the purchase and compare reach, time, capacity used, cash banked, and return safety. If several conditions changed, the result cannot explain the purchase.

Hourly mountain changes make exact coordinates unstable, but you can compare route roles: lower safe loop, current highest stable loop, or summit scout. Keep the intended difficulty similar even when the terrain changes.

Balance cash now with luck later

Cash buys durable progression. Plot crystals and Digging Luck can improve access to desirable finds, but exact odds are not official. Early accounts often gain more from removing a clear Warmth, Backpack, or Pickaxe blocker than from sacrificing all cash for an uncertain luck increase.

Account for paid modifiers

Progression around the hourly reset

The official description says a new mountain appears every hour. Use the early part of a layout to scout and the stable middle to repeat profitable routes. Late in the hour, bank important crystals and avoid a long test until reset behavior is understood.

Avoid false optimization

Do not publish a fixed “best order” without naming the blocker and account modifiers.
Do not use old cash costs as permanent current prices.
Do not translate community luck multipliers into guaranteed rare drops.
Do not upgrade Backpack only because it is cheaper when the bag never fills.
Do not upgrade Warmth only because the summit is the final goal when the Pickaxe cannot clear the approach.
Do not chase a paid shortcut before the free loop reveals the real problem.
